What are Hemorrhoids?
Hemorrhoids
are essentially varicose veins involving the rectal area and affect
more than 10 million people in the
U.S. Many people are embarrassed to discuss hemorrhoids with their
physician even though three out of four people will develop
hemorrhoids. In the past, hemorrhoid
treatment has been painful and incapacitating at times
requiring hospitalization. While this may still be required by some
patients, many patients are candidates for a
treatment method called IRC.
Treatment
of Hemorrhoids
IRC (infrared coagulation) is a method of
treating
hemorrhoids using an infrared light source to produce the desired
effect. This method is painless, quick, and requires no special
preparation or restrictions after the procedure. For these reasons, IRC
has become the most widely used office procedure for treating
hemorrhoids. At the Vein Treatment Center we have successfully
treated many
patients with the IRC and are delighted to offer this method of
treatment to our patients.
